So my experience of welding headgear goes something like this: • Old school fiberglass kettle lids <-- in the 70s, in the upper classes! • Modern sleek caps for large windows, lighter plastic shells • Modern auto-darkening caps for small windows by 3M™ • Modern auto-darkening caps for small windows by Harbor Freight <-- don't trust your eyes on cheap gear! So this thing has been a breath of fresh air so far. I like every single thing about it. It seems to get darker right away, maybe even a little faster than the 3M device I was working with. The window area is huge. They also don't lie when it comes to presenting in truer colors. Contrast, color, hue adjustment - everything is better than anything I've tried before. I really really really like this hat. PS: I'm a shade tree engineer/bodger/prototyper; I am NOT a professional welder. However, my things have been sticking together since the early 1980s.
