I would rate the hub a 5 but found it worked for me with nothing I plugged into it. I have an external hard drive that is USB powered and this little box is not going to power that drive. However, for items that don't require USB power, the hub works as advertised. I have connected a printer, scanner and mouse to it and everything works fine. Because I was able to free up the ports on my computer when using this hub, I had enough space to simply plug an external hard drive directly into my computer. If you need an inexpensive solution to clearing multiple ports (for a common item like printer, mouse, flash drive, etc.) this is a good buy and for less than $10 I'm very happy with it.
