When I first thought about buying the Boos Block Essential Mystery Oil and Board Cream Care and Maintenance Kit I was concerned that it might seem a bit pricey, isn't it overkill but more than I paid for the mineral oil I used on the cutting boards. I decided to go ahead and buy it. Now I'm not sure I'll ever use anything else. Using just mineral oil hydrated my boos block, but every time I used it I had to rub in more oil. The Boos Block Mystery oil hydrates much better and the board cream keeps the moisture inside. Both do not require much and are easy to use. Since wetting the boards with it I've cut and washed them several times and they still don't look dry. That's why it's worth spending money on the set. In the long run, this method is even cheaper because it works so well.
