Review on Ubiquiti UniFi nanoHD 802.11ac Wave2 MU-MIMO Enterprise Access Point (Compact Version) UAP-NANOHD-US by Joe Clayton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great for home use.

Currently 1 is in use, another one will be added later. 1 AP covers my whole house with 2100 SF, but for my outdoor cameras it's better to use 2 evenly distributed with lower power settings. It integrates well with Unifi. Delivery is slow. Every time I make a change, it takes time to prepare, and sometimes I have to do a hard reset after changing the settings. I use 3 SSIDs with no problems. By default, SSIDs 2.4 and 5.8 are created, but you can disable one or the other for each SSID if you want to force a specific radio. If you want one SSID for 2.4 and another for 5.8, just create both and disable the appropriate radio for each. My LAN SSID is only 5.8, but my IoT and my guest are both. Guest, local, and IoT VLANs work well when isolated from each other. Works fine for me as I have 2 IoT devices only 2.4 and all my main LAN devices support 5.8. One thing, however, is that there is no way to disable 802.11N to force AC to be used. As a result, my devices sometimes switch back and forth. This device is still in beta testing. I wouldn't use it professionally until it's baked a little more. I've been getting great speeds from it since I set it up. Out of the box with everything on Auto I got around 25Mbps on the internet speed test, but after a bit of tweaking I get 80+. USG shows 110 for WAN speed. Overall I'm very happy with it at home. Easy to learn and manage. I recommend it to anyone with minimal networking experience over consumer hardware. If you are inexperienced, I recommend reading and even watching a few Ubiquiti videos first. It's not difficult to handle. The price of USG, AP and 8-port POE switch was not much higher than the price of high-end consumer device.
