The slots were punched in them before the brake (bend) was formed, resulting in a deformed slot that required extensive filing to insert the clamp without breaking the threads. They feel solid and after my modifications they fit well. Too bad I had to cut off the beautiful black paintwork, now it will probably rust. I'm also looking for two more (metric) nuts to lock this more securely.
