Yes it charges lithium batteries but you have to leave it on "fixed output" and set it to 14.4 volts. Once the battery reaches this voltage you will need to turn it off manually as there is no "trickle" charge in a "fixed" setting. Think of it as a 50 amp power supply with stable output voltage in "fixed" mode. If the switch is in position 3, lithium will not charge properly (even if you set V to fixed mode). It seems to time out and go into the default lead-acid absorption mode (too low for lithium) no matter what "bulk" voltage is set to. I can only assume that it charges a lead-acid charge in 3 stages, plus you can adjust the total voltage. The fan turns on and off as needed and not too loud.
