Review on πŸ”‘ Unlocking Craftsmanship: The Pocket Hole Drilling Jig Project Book (Popular Woodworking) by Robert Blanton

Fantastic book, best in the power and hand tools section

These are projects that people can do with fairly basic wooden tools which is nice. If you have a table saw and a router, you're ahead of the game. I've found that many projects could be completed much quicker using methods and tools other than those prescribed, but I think the point of some ideas was to show how things could be done with less cost (in terms of tools) for longer ). The book has lists of materials, dimensions, etc. If you have a pocket hole novel, this is a must-read. It will even teach you how to build a pocket hole drill! How cool is that? My favorite part of the book is how it shows unusual carpenter's angles and suggests screw lengths for them. It's way better than trial and error. Lots of pictures and great text. Very simple projects that look very complex when finished. The book projects have a shaker feel, which I like. I don't like luxurious things. It's all about straight lines, great stitching and useful items. All of the projects here use items you can get almost anywhere. The cost is minimal due to the way these items are put together. From what I remember the book tells you how to make: a couple of clocks, an accent table, a side table, a quilt hanger (very cool), a mirror, and a frame. I know there's more than that. Most of the items in the book are made out of red oak, but these items can be made out of almost any wood you want. I highly recommend this book regardless of ability. For me, the material lists and plans were enough to make it worthwhile. It doesn't hurt that I love most of the designs too.
