Great ideas! at Power & Hand Tools

I recently bought a pocket hole drill bit for my son who loves woodworking and wanted to find a tutorial for him that goes with it. This is a good book full of easy projects for both beginner/intermediate and experienced carpenters.

good projects. Information.

Good information. Good practice, make a large tool rack with a pegboard back - with a hinged pegboard door over another pegboard so you have 3 sides of the board to hang things on. The jigs worked great. Shelf hole is great.

Misleading listing on Revain.

I just got this book and after reading it I think it will be a very good book to work with. Revain's listing is misleadingly named "Kreg PHD BOOK The Pocket Hole Drilling Jig". The author shows several brands of pocket hole fasteners, even homemade ones. So it's not really just for Kreg, which is the brand I use.

Pros
  • Standing test results
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Book not for beginners

The book itself is not as useful as I had hoped. I'm a beginner and need more visuals to learn the basics of pocket hole drilling. I am unfamiliar with many of the terms used in the book. However, I don't think it will take long for me to feel comfortable once I get the basics down. Projects still need guidance from experienced woodworkers. I'm glad I ordered it as it gives me something to work on.

Pros
  • Good product for the price

Very good, but the 80s are calling and want their style back!

I have to agree with a few others - very dated. I haven't seen this type of furniture since the 80's. The plot of the book is good so it's worth it. Danny Proulx is one of the best guides for workers. I've already started a coffee table, but since I don't have an oak floor I think I'll use cherry wood instead. <laughs>.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Crumpled

Useful but limited value - parts missing

This book has some useful information about breakaway fasteners and their applications, but lacks details on things like choosing screw lengths for different thicknesses of wood or what types of clips are best for different situations. Some information on useful assembly tools or assembly tables with T-rails complete the book. I would like to see more information on competing pocket hole attachments and the pros and cons of each model. The book really seemed to favor Kreg's devices. As the Kreg

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Extendable

After reading all the rave reviews on here I thought this book had more plans and better plans. Much of this material seems outdated and just plain boring. A bookshelf that I am very disappointed in. The one that comes with the Kreg Jig is the best in my opinion. However, this book will tell you about pocket holes, their placement, etc., so I'd say it's worth it. Just add your imagination to some of these plans and you will be fine. Anyway, isn't that all woodworking is about? Most of the book…

Pros
  • Decent execution
Cons
  • Lack of thought

Fantastic book, best in the power and hand tools section

These are projects that people can do with fairly basic wooden tools which is nice. If you have a table saw and a router, you're ahead of the game. I've found that many projects could be completed much quicker using methods and tools other than those prescribed, but I think the point of some ideas was to show how things could be done with less cost (in terms of tools) for longer ). The book has lists of materials, dimensions, etc. If you have a pocket hole novel, this is a must-read. It will…

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Lots of things
