I was disappointed with the Wi-Fi range of my AT&T modem. I can connect to my neighbor's WiFi across the street (they gave me their password), but I barely get a signal from my AT&T modem in the upstairs bedroom. This extension solved my problem. Just connect an internet cable between the two devices and turn on the extender. After about four minutes of communication between them, the range gradually widened. I was expecting to have to connect to a different WiFi device with a different password. However, when connected to an AT&T modem, you continue to use the same Wi-Fi name and password. Relax. For me that was easier said than done. Running the internet cable and extension cord through the attic wasn't easy. I highly recommend that you find out where you are going to place this before purchasing. I had several devices that extend a wired internet connection over the house wiring. This would make setting up this expander really easy. This actually worked, but it also slowed down the connection. So I connected with a long internet cable. The kit included a short internet cable. For testing ok. However, you will need a longer cable so you can place the extender farther from the modem. There were no instructions in the box, but the PDF can be found online by googling the model number. By the way, the device turned out to be much smaller than I expected. Not that it matters.
