Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ Pangea Deep Heat Projector (50) for Reptiles: Optimal Heating Solution by Renee Sweet

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Calmer, more active and hungrier leopard geckos!

. I've been using mine for a few months now since it came out. It's just as effective as the Arcadia but I prefer this one because it has a silicone sleeve which helps as I've burned myself on the Arcadia before. I didn't have a burnt smell or anything like that. Mine are 50W and internally mounted in PVC cases. I typically run them on my dimming thermostat at 40-50% power to heat the surface about 12 inches to 92-95F. The deep heat heaters have greatly increased the activity level and appetite of most of my leopard geckos. I see them much more often than when using the heating mat. They love to bask under them when their lights go out. I highly recommend these over heat mats as they emit shortwave infrared radiation, like the sun, which provides more energy than farwave infrared. Waves of infrared radiation that heating mats (and ceramic heaters) emit. These surfaces heat up very well, allowing your pet to receive both abdominal heat from the surface below the lamp and heat from above. The air heats up, but much less than a ceramic radiant heater when trying to reach the same surface temperature. , ensure your temperatures are appropriate for the species, d place branches, leaves, rocks, etc. around the bathing area to make it feel sheltered and less exposed. They are best used with dimmer thermostats (like Herpstat), but if you have a 20 gallon or larger terrarium you can still maintain a good temperature gradient and safe temperature by using a dimmer or dimmer switch (like Fluker) and pair a thermostat on/off switch (I like vivosun) Reduce the brightness of the lamp so that's the maximum temperature for your species at the hottest time of the day and set the on/off thermostat to match the temperature and location on the cool side, your species needs the cool side probe to shut off the current when the cool side temperature cannot be maintained. So the animal always finds a safe hiding place. If the room temperature drops sharply at night, it is better to use a dimming thermostat so that the temperature does not drop too much at night. It looks like some of these reviews are from people who didn't purchase through Revain and have damaged products. I no longer buy lightbulbs through Revain because they all arrived broken. So if that bothers you, order direct from Pangea Reptile's website. They pack very carefully and overall are an amazing company. This is one of my gecko's first nights under a deep heat projector. Whenever I used the heating pad she would always hide in her warm skin and I rarely saw her. She was immediately fascinated by the deep heat projector and now she does it all the time.

Pros
  • Rugged construction for greater reliability and durability.
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
