I have a special need for it. We have a pool cover pump that pumps rainwater out of the pool cover. However, if you simply drop the pump into a deep puddle to pump it out, an air bubble will appear underneath and it will work, but will not pump water until you suck the end of the garden hose attached to it. The end of the hose was cut off (lawn mower) and this bulb fits the cut end of the hose quite snugly. I kind of have to hold it with one hand to get it a little tighter, but then a few nudges and the water starts to flow and I take it out and let the water flow from the pump. So it works very well for our situation.
