Use a higher quality glue.
The shields themselves are fine, but one had to be filed from the back to keep it from rubbing against the paint. Glue, on the other hand, is hot junk. It was literally less than 24 hours before it flew down the street. After the restoration I peeled off the other one and reinstalled it with Gorilla brand double sided tape and everything has been fine ever since. I would recommend just going ahead and having something on hand and not worrying about what comes out of it.
