Wrong starter if the original has a metal gear.
Although listed as a replacement for the Generac 75255, this starter is not a suitable replacement for Generac engines with metal flywheels. If the original starter has a metal gear, the replacement must also have a metal gear. This starter will work for a while but will fail after a few months when used on a home backup generator. The gear or Bendix drive will flake off when used with a steel flywheel. C2881 can work where metal gear is used.
