Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Dorman 601-227 Fuel Pump Control Module - Ideal for Various Volvo Models by Nicholas Harrington

Revainrating 1 out of 5

I always thought Dorman was trash. I was right.

I have been a freelance Volvo mechanic for 22 years. The Dorman brand has a bad reputation in this area, but I recently learned that one of my colleagues was successful. When the PEM started behaving on my 2004 V70, which I drive daily, I crawled under the car, hit it with a hammer to get the car started, and ordered this part from Revain to see if I could Lucky and saved $130 in comparison to dealer unit. . The new module doesn't fit where the FEM lives under the car on the gas tank. Looks like the body halves were glued front and back at the factory. Sure, I could have moved the PEM inside the car to protect it from the elements, but the original lasted 16 years under the car. never mind I modified the legs to match. I drove 15 miles to the meeting. When I left the meeting my car stalled, never to start another car with PEM installed. Luckily I put the original in the glove compartment. I stopped and installed my original PEM at Leatherman's when everyone in the meeting passed me on my way home. I'm ashamed that I don't trust my intuition and my accumulated knowledge of what works and what doesn't.

Pros
  • Economical and reliable - offering OE quality at a lower price than a dealer replacement
Cons
  • I will add later
