Review on πŸ”§ Meihejia Architectural Molding Edge Forming Router: Crafting Perfect Moldings with Precision by Don Pintac

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Ok with some caveats. Nothing for beginners.

The Meihejia bits themselves are at least visually good and really have a wonderful value. If the low price is a downside compared to more expensive brands offering the same bits, it's the quality of the finish and the pulley/bearing. However, the color is suitable for some. Carbide blades are the same thickness as others and it's hard to tell the difference in sharpness. A few things to keep in mind. You must have a variable speed router and at least two horsepower. You can't run them at 25,000-30,000 RPM on a single speed router. Second, depending on the diameter (depth of cut) of a single drill, you should plan on making at least three or even five passes. And it's made of pine or MDF. I would be very careful with hardwoods like oak. If you have plans (or rather dreams) to make large moldings out of it, plan differently. Making an 8 foot length isn't going to be quick. These beats are not for beginners. I'm an advanced user and they challenge me. I hope that practice and experiment always bring good results and that caution prevents failure. You should definitely use pegboards and pushers as it's entirely possible to run into kickbacks or other issues until you figure out how to use the beats. You don't want your hands near the cutter since you're only dealing with a ΒΎ inch thickness and trying to guide about 2 inches vertically, not just the edge. Also, DO NOT allow anyone (including yourself) to stand in the way of the work kickback.
