Review on SB440 Chewable 4 Way Play Bird Toy with Colorful Wooden Blocks & Ringing Bell - Large Size 15” x 7” x 7” by Super Bird Creations by Donald Marin

I purchased SuperBirdCreations as they were a small garage company and had a positive history with their products and my CAG for about 20 years. Unfortunately, a terrible incident happened tonight and I feel the need to provide an overview of the situation. We just gave our CAG some new toys about 3 days ago and she is wading through the cage and playing with it. She chose this SuperBird toy tonight. My CAG is larger than most gray ones, but the gray sized toys still fit their size. Today, around midnight, we heard a noise no gray parent wants to hear. Gray. She lives only 10 steps away from me, so I was there quickly. Somehow her whole leg got caught in one of the rings that held the blocks to the chain. Unable to pull it out due to the ropes attached to it, she managed to pull the ring around her thigh, increasing the pressure on it as the toy began to shift under her weight as she hung upside down. It took extensive physical help to get her out of the toy, although she was fully cooperative. As we did, we saw that her leg went through the ring to her thigh. She tried to take it off, but since she was hanging upside down and already had a semi-limping leg, her supporting grip kept her leg and her leg essentially in the ring. This involved quickly removing the toy from the cage, supporting its weight, etc. It's been a long night since then. I wouldn't wish that on any parent. Nothing like this has ever happened to our CAG or any other toy. I'll remodel it with mostly destroyed toy leftovers to make it safer for them. For the time being I will not give her previously purchased toy with rings the same size as this unmodified toy and will contact Superbird about the incident to let them know of the safety issue. At the moment I think it's unsafe. Parrot toys are larger than kennels and other small birds.
