My medium sized bird loves this food toy. When he arrived I had to show him how to work with tabs. After two lessons he had it. He often bangs the toy against the edge of the cage to make the nuts fall through the holes instead of pulling/pushing on the tabs. Only small pieces of nuts can get into the holes, which is a disadvantage as it takes time to break. Nuts. Sometimes you have to break the purchased pre-punched nuts to fit through the holes. Although I don't like doing this, my bird gets very excited when he sees me putting something in the top cup. Items should be placed in the upper tray and lowered where the bird can reach them. . Small pieces of food can be placed in the bottom two holes to encourage the bird to use the toy. I would only recommend this food for medium to large sized birds as I don't think small birds can handle the toy.
