This starter motor worked great on my '98 Mercruiser 3.0L for about 2 months before experiencing problems would have. I actually had to be towed off the lake the first time I had an issue with it because it wasn't turning my engine's flywheel. After returning to my house on the boat, I found that the starter motor had run out of power and at certain points was unable to crank the engine against the normal compression generated in the engine. I realized that if I could get my belt to turn the flywheel to a point of less resistance, the starter would step in and actually turn the flywheel. It worked for about 6 or 7 months before the starter just gave out completely and actually took my battery and battery cable with it. New battery, new starter and new battery cable and my boat starts fine now. good to have on hand as a backup until you get something more reliable, but other than that I wouldn't waste your money.
