Need something to reinforce the bottom of my basement door after the wood has rotted and the metal has started to become brittle and flake. I replaced the wood then added this and the door is like new. Waterproof! Here are some notes. Cutting: Aluminum is very easy to cut with a hacksaw, and caulk is easily cut with a utility knife. Installation: very easy. I placed the aluminum on the marked holes, took it off and pre-drilled the holes before finally screwing it down. A very painless process even if you have the most basic skills. Sealing Tip: After installation, seal the top of the aluminum with silicone sealant to prevent water from dripping behind and into the door. Also put something on the screws as they are always the first to rust. It moved a bit for weather protection, so I dabbed each end to keep it in place but not make it difficult to remove if I ever need to replace it. I recommend!
