I got the three-pack because I was giving one as a gift, so that leaves one as a spare. The 3-star sturdiness is because the wire binding is on the wimpy side, which is okay, but could be improved upon. 5-stars for thickness as you get enough paper to write with until you probably want a new one anyway. 5-stars for sheerness is because the front and back plastic covers are very see-through, which means you can use the first page as the designation for what the notebook is devoted to--journal, art, notes, miscellaneous. I plan to make a hard cover for my EDC notebook so it won't be damaged being carted around inside my pack or purse.The dot grid is fine, unobtrusive, and the dots are 3/16ths of an inch apart, so if you write tiny, this is great. If you don't write tiny, uh, well, use them as a guideline but don't follow them otherwise. :-) For artists, the dots are ignore-able altogether if you so choose.
