I installed this on my Explorer 96 with a 4.0 liter V6 engine and am very happy with it. The 4.SLOW engine is not a high performance engine so I didn't expect a muffler change to add a million horsepower. The muffler uses 2 1/4" inlets and outlets, so my stock 2" muffler was swapped out at the muffler shop for a 2 1/4" muffler to match. In terms of performance, the Motor feels more responsive and lively and feels less like it's choking. To breathe. The dyno tells me there's definitely more lift and movement throughout the powerband.I noticed the motor picks up a few small hills on the freeway jumped for which the car used to downshift.I also have (back) 2 or 3mpg highway and about 1.5mpg city. The sound is nice and smooth - probably the quietest turbo muffler I've ever heard - which helps , that the car doesn't sound like an annoying high schooler with double glazing (oh, was that me once?) and keeps the volume in the cabin at a very acceptable level Overall, it's a bit louder than the original, both inside and outside the car, but not much more than road noise at speed. My Explorer with aggressive all-terrain tires and new exhaust is still quieter than my chord on the track. There is also a minimal rumble that is only really (barely) perceptible at around 1800 rpm (that seems to be the case with this combination of muffler and engine). Overall I'm very happy with the muffler and would recommend it to anyone who wants a bit of a power boost and better breath tuning without the annoying loud exhaust noise.
