It works - read installation notes

Purchased to work with SB6183 as the latter does not have language support. Initially I had some trouble getting it to work, all my fault. Notes * When used alone, installation should be painless. However, if used with a different data modem, do not allow the data MAC address to be added when contacting technical support. They did this to me and I had to keep reactivating the data modem every night before actually activating the phone service when trying to monitor the data and then the data modem just disabled completely. It's not entirely true, just keep it in mind. Eventually a technician was found who understood and corrected the MAC addresses so that a modem would transmit data and voice. The reason for all this is that most cable modems at that time had a "bad" Puma 6 chipset that could work with a phone and supported more than 150 GPS. *Please note that currently you can only have one IP/MAC address for data, so on the Motorola MB8600 you can still only use one of the 4 Ethernet ports on the back. everything is not connected here yet and again the MB8600 is data only no phone support. We tried one of the 'other' Voice over IP services for voice, chosen by the PCMAG editors. Hard failure, we're back to Comcast, much better quality and this modem pays for itself in no time. One last note, if this is your first time trying to activate this, skip the router, connect directly to your modem, go to the Comcast activation page and follow the 3 steps to confirm and allow activation . It was easy and the phones were up and running in about 5 minutes. Lying horizontally it warms, laid on its side and now it is pleasantly cool.

Pros
  • Battery backup function (battery not included)
Cons
  • No paint required
