I haven't tested these binoculars in the field so I can't yet comment on how well they hold up or how waterproof they are, but they totally meet my expectations for a small and sturdy binocular . I chose these binoculars because I have small pupils, so most binoculars don't fit my eyes properly. I was concerned that some users claimed it didn't sit properly on their face and they had to hold it unaided without touching their eyes. I didn't have this problem: the eyecups were actually too wide for me when fully extended, but they have a small detent in the middle that allows me to rest them against my eye sockets or the bridge of my nose to support them with full vision. . They are fully retractable for eyeglass wearers. You have a great, wide view. The inner 75% of the field of view is sharp and the outer edges have barrel distortion, focal and chromatic aberrations, but understandably you'll have to pay a lot more for edge-to-edge sharpness, so that's to be expected within the price range. Overall the binoculars are heavy and very durable - they don't appear to flex due to the collation like many cheap binoculars I've come across. However, time will tell, so I hope to add an update for them in the future. Note that my binoculars arrived on a side with poor optics (the right side was out of focus). I spoke to a Vortex customer service representative and they sent me a free FedEx return label and had my binoculars back to their store within 3 days. They concluded that the pair I received was defective and just days later sent me back a brand new pair and a free hat. The new pair works great! I mention this because it shows that Vortex had great customer service and also as a warning that their quality control may not be perfect on this model. If you ever receive a questionable model you should contact them and hopefully you will receive the great service that I have provided. Quality control is something you might lack on a cheaper model like this, but you'll get more than your money's worth if you're diligent and work with the company if you run into any issues.
