I ordered this without knowing it actually came with a cartridge. I thought it was just one thread. I actually needed a new cartridge anyway so this worked great for me. Just recognize it when you look at it. It's both, not just one or the other. In any case, both the thread and the cartridge are excellent. No complaints.
