UPDATE December 3: After contacting the manufacturer, a replacement was sent and the return shipping of the defective product was paid for. Installed today, works. If it doesn't work again, I'll let you know. But so far so good. I am impressed with the manufacturer's customer service. My email reporting the problem was responded to within 48 hours and a replacement product was shipped with minimal email shipping. Because of this I changed my score to 3. Update: I finally took the time to systematically review every device connected to this USB hub. Only 2 printers and a scanner worked. They have their own power. Peripherals without power did not work. I went back to the 7 port hub that was supposed to replace this item. 7-port USB 2.0 hub, black. All connected items work. Satechi's customer service seems to be helpful. After 45 days I only get a replacement. Revain will not refund money (after 30 days) and Satechi will only make a replacement. Let's hope the next one works. I'm not sure if the issue is just some devices related to this band or devices but it's very annoying. I'm still plugging and unplugging elements to make them work. For items that require power, I have 2 hard drives, a keyboard, fan cooler, Polar Flowlink, and a FitBit charger. Other independent connections are 2 printers and a scanner. It turns out 9 connections. Only those elements that are powered by their own power source work reliably. Unpowered items can only be added to MAI work one at a time. With that in mind, this device makes no sense. It's time to try to get it back. Given the discussion here about the power required for portable hard drives and the limitations of this device, it would be better to find another product.
