Review on Enhanced Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly - Timken HA590156 by Shaylon Bateson

Good choice for DIY

2nd purchase (passenger side) for 2006 Mountaineer, 130,000 miles, sister SUV Explorer, same parts, steering wheel feels stiff when turning left, was a DYI replacement, comes with a new cable bracket, so if the old one breaks, keep an eye on the cable screw, there is no replacement for it. However, you will need custom sized sockets, 32mm for the hub bolt, 18mm or 19mm (depending on your SUV options), 15mm and some extensions of different sizes, 3" or 4". I recommend a ratchet wrench / or adapter. Since the screws are hard to reach there are 2 that will drive you crazy with a standard ratchet. The dealer charged almost $600 in parts and labor to replace one. You can machine both sides for $330 if you need to buy additional tools for the job. , still less than $400, that's at least $700-800 in labor cost savings from the dealer. Both sides roll and spin like new.
