Review on High-Performance Exhaust Gasket by Mr. Gasket: Engineered Material by Barry Shaker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well direct to the exhaust manifold

I recently got my 1983 Imperial back on the road. One of the things that needed fixing was the air supply pipe that brings air from the air pump to the back of both exhaust manifolds. The original tube burned out and was beyond repair. And there is no substitute anywhere. After much searching, I brought up this problem over lunch and my brother-in-law, Pete, agreed to make one for me out of stainless steel. a leak. Then I realized I had made a mistake by making a new stainless steel tube. The problem was the coefficient of expansion between the stainless steel tube and the cast iron manifold. I needed a thicker pad. I have ordered this item. Using my latest OEM gasket as a template, I cut out two new gaskets and reinstalled the air hose. In the past, OEM style seals might last a few days. Gaskets made from this material did not fail or leak. If you need to make your own gaskets that require a thicker, sturdier material, this even works well on an exhaust manifold. I highly recommend it.
