Review on 🦁 Nature's Brown Lion Brand Fishermen's Wool Yarn, #126 by Heather Shaw

Good yarn for a blanket!

I've found out I'll be working in Boston later this year and I've made it my goal to knit a blanket before I leave so my boyfriend can take it while I do am gone . I'm using Lion Brand Fishing Wool in natural (ivory) and the Afghan Lover's Knot pattern. The recommended needle size for this yarn is 5-5.5mm, but I decided to go up to 6.0mm needle size to increase stitch spacing and hopefully make the quilt less heavy in the long run. So far, this yarn has been easy to work with. I understand previous complaints that there are knots where the yarn snapped while winding, but I found the ends connected well. I also agree that the yarn is rustic because not only is it ivory in color and seems to have a bit of hay in it, but I think it adds to the aesthetic of the braided blanket. If you're looking for a luxurious yarn, you might want an alpaca or cashmere blend; but if you are looking for a regular wool yarn that is easy to work with, then this yarn is for you. I will update in a few months once my quilt is finished. Update (April 16th): I noticed that the yarn is thicker in some places and thinner in others. So far this doesn't affect the dimensions of the blanket I'm knitting much; but i will update if it happens! Update (May 8th): I just finished my first skein of this yarn. There was a couple of dark hairs that I pulled out while knitting. Differences in the thickness of the yarn do not affect the dimensions of the blanket. I notice that the knitting size is smaller than advertised even though I measured in needles.
