Review on Efficient USB3.0 Manual Sharing Switch for USBHUB, Printer, Scanner & Two Computers (A/B Switch) by Michael Ringgold

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Looks great on my desk

I use a USB3 dock for all my video, audio and peripherals and I connect it to a USB3 switch to switch between my home and work computers. I used a Plugable USB 3.0 Sharing Switch and it worked great, but since I had to connect the dock to one side and computer to the other, I couldn't put it on my desk for easy access without the USB cables on the same side with the switch (see fig.). I like to hide the cables on the table as much as possible, so this annoyed me. After a long search I finally came across this USB3 switch, the only one I could find that looked like it was made for the desktop. All USB ports are connected on the back with buttons in opposite directions. I replaced my first switch and it looks much better now (see picture). The switch seems a bit cheaper than the other and when I pick it up and yank it the USB disconnects and reconnects so deducting 1 star for that but it really just sits there so in actual use it works just fine . I can find a metal plate to attach to the underside to add some weight to the table. However the switch works great and I can run 2 HD monitors, a USB audio, a HD webcam, a USB phone with speakers and a wireless mouse/keyboard on the same USB port, works with my personal and work computers and switches back and forth with no problems.

Pros
  • Looks great
Cons
  • Security
