Last week I started making a rocker cover gasket for my 2009 F150. A couple of unthreaded studs have badly rusted 8mm nuts on the back. If you try to use the socket, they just get ripped off and the socket just spins. I've tried using a Grip-Tite socket and then a slotted socket, nothing worked. Tried using Vise Grips on hairpins, no. Went to Harbor Freight and got a set with a 1/4" option to maybe mount it with bolts, not dice. Went to Home Depot anyway, got a Husky set with an 8mm extractor, it has only twisted on a nut. finally stumbled upon this and ordered straight away. I thought I'd have to use 7.75mm but 8mm worked fine after cutting the studs off with a Dremel Flex Shaft. And by good I mean INSTANTLY. They're a bit pricey, but worth it, especially if you do it all the time (I don't).
