First data corporation was founded in 1971 in Omaha, USA, but was registered only in 1989. It processes bank cards transactions. With a head office in Atlanta, company operating in all regions of the world. For now, it has over 6 million of independent agents. Western Union Financial Services was under this company management, until 2006.
First Data Corporation is the first operator of the credit cards of Visa and Master. 80% of the shares were bought by American Express in 1980.
First Data Corporation provides commerce and payment solutions for merchants, financial institutions and card issuers. It secures, makes easier and faster many payment transactions per second around the world. First Data provides the next list of services : transaction processing services; credit, debit, private-label, gift, payroll and other prepaid card issuing and processing; fraud protection and authentication solutions; electronic check acceptance services through TeleCheck; as well as Internet commerce and mobile payment solutions.
