I wanted to change the front differential oil on my third generation Subaru. After research I bought this large piece to unscrew the drain plug. That's what it works for. Note that those who do the same, unlike the rear diff bolt, the front diff drain bolt has a washer. Mine fell in dirty oil and I only found it after clogging and refilling the drain. Changing the differential oil does wonders for smoothness. I believe the timetable interval is 30km for single driving. Good luck and don't forget the washing machine!
