Well built and strong. People who complain about strange smells etc. are likely to "season" the stone as if it were cast iron, or wash it with soap and water. Never use soap (as with cast iron). Simply scrape off and, if necessary, use clear water and a plastic brush with a little must. The stone will gradually absorb some of the oil from your dough, but you never oil the stone. I bake bread and also pizza on the rocks. Simply sprinkle the bowls with cornmeal and the batter will slide onto the stone (the cornmeal acts like little ball bearings). If the stone is preheated, the dough/crust will not stick. Now for the bad/good news. The Bad: The version I ordered had a stainless steel blade pizza cutter. The previous version was a single piece of bamboo, presumably sharp enough to slice a pizza. People complained that it was crumbly and boring, so I specifically ordered the "new" version. But he arrived with an old bamboo blade. I wrote to the seller and he responded within a few hours. Good: They explained that some of the older kits are still shipping as the kit replacement happened only recently. They refunded the full amount and told me to keep the entire set as an apology for the confusion. And since they are now 3-4 weeks out of stock, they give me a 25% voucher (valid until the end of the year) to buy another complete set with a new stainless steel blade. Unbelievable. IMO Customer Service.
