Review on Precision Keyless Drill Chuck - JT33, 1/32 To 1/2 Inch, 0.002 Inch Accuracy by Bilal Cartwright

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Shockingly high quality for under $30.00

As many other reviewers have noted, this chuck is very smooth in its tightening/loosening, with no play in the jaws or the collar. Also, I was amazed at how absolutely perfectly the jaws mate with each other when the chuck is closed all the way. Not only is there zero clearance (meaning you can use something like a #80 drill bit,) but the jaws seem to be machined at their ENDS. I mean that if you run your fingers over the tips of the closed jaws, the three parts mesh so perfectly that it feels like one large chunk of metal instead of three separate jaws. Also, I am getting what I feel is insanely low runout for such an inexpensive drill press/$29.00 chuck. (I have a 2021 WEN 10" 4210T.) With a ½-inch Forstner bit hanging about 3 inches out the bottom of the jaws, I measured just over .003 inches of runout! That's not measured the motor spline or the chuck, that's the END OF THE BIT. That's incredibly precise for this type of setup. I've heard numbers as high as .010 to .015 would not be unexpected at the end of a drill bit.If they're all made this well, I would not hesitate for a second to tell someone to dump their stock keyed chuck and grab one of these.
