Review on πŸ”§ Mityvac MVA6851 Fluid Extractor: A Manual Tool for Efficient Extraction, 7-1/2 in. L, White and Black by Dave Hock

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm glad I chose this one.

I bought this device after reading reviews of other aspirators on Revain and I'm glad I did. (Be sure to read this review to the end as it contains usage information that some may not know.) This is a very heavy plastic. In fact, it's stronger and better crafted than any metal I've seen. The piston skirt is made of thick aluminum or steel and has two piston seals. There are no pressure losses at all. The rear cover with piston is very easy to remove and seals perfectly when installed. One of the really nice things about this suction pump is how the hose snaps into the pump so you don't have to worry about it ripping or ripping off when you're using the pump to fill up. And that brings me to something that those who have this pump may not know. You insert a tube into the end of the pump and it automatically locks into place, similar to the Chinese finger trap (aka Chinese finger cuff and other names) you might have had as a kid. Strange, but there is no manual for this pump. Because it's such a simple device, this isn't usually a problem, and you might think it's just common sense. But some people may not know that the hose is inserted into the quick connector, similar to some modern plumbing quick connectors. This means you can easily remove the hose when you need to replace or replace it, or simply want to remove it for storage. Here's how: Pull back the blue plastic collar into which the hose is inserted. It's spring-loaded and moves a little, and when it does the hose is easy to pull out. By retracting I mean you pull the blue plastic collar back towards the suction pump housing itself. This is important because you can swap out the hoses if you need a longer one for a specific purpose. In fact, I think I may need to use a longer hose than the one that came with the pump so I can get to the bottom of my truck's transfer case to suck out the old oil before changing it. If you decide to replace the hoses, remember that you need to get a hose with the same outside diameter to attach it to the quick connector. Also consider the thickness of the walls of any tubing you may be using. If the walls are too thin, it can collapse under suction pressure. If it's too thick, it may not be flexible enough for the purpose you may be using it for, so choose your replacement hose wisely. can also be used for pumping liquids, not just for sucking liquids. But it is used for both suction and pumping. This is a great suction and filling pump! I'm very glad I chose it among other options. Buy with confidence.
