It was perfect for my 01 Ford F-250. It has a slot to directly operate the end of the jack rod instead of the splined shaft and "key" that originally came with the truck. No matter how hard I tried to get that stupid "key" to work, I couldn't reliably raise or lower the spare tire because it would fall out and slip. I managed with great difficulty to knock the tire off one last time so I could fit this replacement (not something to try roadside). However, the screw holes in this device are NOT tapped. The bolts that Ford uses from the factory are in the form of threads and you will need an impact tool to install them. You may be able to do this with your hands and with tools, but I wouldn't recommend attempting this without first threading the screw holes. I also like the fact that Ford put a shock spring on the end of the winch cable since the original spare tire carrier didn't have one. In my view, this is not just a replacement, it's an upgrade.
