Review on πŸ”§ Gates TCKWP307 Engine Timing Belt Kit incl. Water Pump by Chris Chincuanco

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great set for the money!

Great for the money, Chinese water pump that seems to pump water excellently, same temps as OEM pump, USA Gates belts, Japanese rollers and tensioners. The belt seems a bit tight, but that could be me. Anyway, I have no complaints. People complain about single bearing idler pulleys, but if you change them every time there's no problem, I've got them for over 200,000 miles anyway. I lost the idler wheel because someone didn't replace it when I didn't do it myself. Now I know that all of that was replaced and when. Two things: I made a tool out of 3/8" bolts, spare washers, nuts and scrap wood to remove the crankshaft pulley. There are other ways to do it, lots and lots of ways to take it off, but not so many to hold it up to 130 ft-lbs of torque. But my tool is less than $10 and it works both ways. I had to remove the heatsink to attach it, but to be honest I bent the fins when I didn't remove the heatsink, so removing the heatsink isn't a bad idea anyway. I used YouTube in addition to the instructions that came with the kit, it helps. My kit came with a metal water pump seal. I didn't use sealant and there were no leaks. A metal seal is preferred. My kit included a thermostat gasket. I bought an OEM thermostat and paid $3 for a gasket, not realizing one was included. I have a car but it comes with a timing belt guard sensor on the mechanical version. bulletins.
