Review on πŸ”§ REDCAMP Heavy Duty Suction Cup Anchor Set with Securing Hook Tie Down, Ideal Camping Tarp Accessory for Car Side Awnings, Pack of 2 by Marklen Baeskens

Revainrating 3 out of 5

From light to medium loads. Sticky Ground. Strong suction power.

July 2021 First Impression Rating I would rate these suction cups as light to medium. The bottom of the "cup" is sticky. With that stickiness and suction power, it seemed to stick very strongly to various parts of my car. From vertical side panels to horizontal roof and hood. It held my weight well as I pulled on it and leaned away from it. I have a similar sticky suction cup in my car that holds the phone holder to my arm. Eventually they separate. I think mainly because of the heat at the window. Almost the entire assembly is made of plastic. I think the weak link in this will be the hook at the end of the nylon strap. It spins on an axle that's made entirely of plastic, and I think it's going to break eventually. And the nylon strap is held to the cup by a very thin metal pin, which is held in place by two vertical pieces of plastic, which in turn are held in place by a pan head screw. When you tighten this knob it will flex the plastic which will likely come loose. Or if the handle accidentally detaches, it will release the pin that holds the strap in place. Basically, in my opinion, this is bad and weak design. There is also a very small tab at the bottom of the mug that can be used to pull the mug off. The problem is that the tab is so small that it's very difficult to pull off. It takes a lot of strength and patience. But the deed is done. I have a feeling these tiny tabs will come loose one day. A bigger tab would have been much better. And they don't come with a lid to cover the sticky bottom. Therefore, they can get caught in dirt when not in use, making them less reliable the next time you use them. I cut out some plastic coated cardboard and used it as a tread for the sticky bottom. I bought these suction cups to add extra mounting points to my car to hang a tarp on the side of the car. Once I get some time outdoors with this setup I'll update this review to show how well or poorly these suction cups perform. But after initial tests, they seemed quite suitable for this purpose.
