Review on Kwikset 99380 001 Electronic Deadbolt Featuring by Troy Robinson

The blocking is pretty good. Bad software with serious design flaws

I got one at home to test and it seemed pretty good. Switched 7 other locks to them and they worked well enough. The only initial complaint was that the hardware stuck a little more than most locks, causing the keyboard motor to bind or run longer, draining the batteries. The big problem is that Kwikset doesn't know that sometimes people buy new phones. Three weeks after installation I received a new camera. They have a major design flaw, because just to get a new phone you have to go to each castle (two different cities in our case) and essentially start over. But even with that, their documentation and tech support think you need to basically wipe the lock to do this, but there's an easier way. If you follow their instructions, other users you've shared locks with will also have to drive to each lock, even if they've already set up the same phone. The castles have yet to be physically visited. They already have two-factor authentication built into their software, so this is ridiculous and just a design flaw. Also, your setup isn't smart enough to detect and handle when the lock is already known on the phone, so it fails for various reasons. All future attempts will just hang until an error occurs with no reason given. The solution is simple, but it is not in the instructions. They could have easily fixed it in software, but for some reason they decided against it. In short, for home use probably 4-5 stars if you are careful with hardware and software installation. If you're thinking of using this for multiple rentals or one not very close to where you live, this probably isn't a good choice. If Kwikset had made minimal efforts to fix the design flaws in their software, that would be 4-5 stars for almost every use.
