It didn't work at all. Installation wasn't easy. In fact you will need a second person to help you as it takes three hands while holding it in place to insert the screws for final assembly. Once at the door, the motor or solenoid will lock or unlock the door. While we were able to get the motor to run when the device was removed from the door, there was no way to get it to run when the device was on the door. I spoke to their online tech support who tried to get it working but even with their…

Nice lock but it kills battery power so be prepared!

I liked the product. Was relatively easy to install. Replaced the touchpad style lock with an older version (maybe 7-8 years old) to make it work. Connecting to our network and phones was pretty easy too. The app works great. Constructive observation for 4 stars only: - I wish the app had more granular controls, like the associated icons above (network, battery status, etc.). - There should be a low battery warning so be ready to switch if necessary as this thing rips through batteries. I don't

Faulty electronics for door handles and locks

All instructions followed, stopped several times to check locking mechanism. Everything connected and looked good on the door. The application earned and read the lock. Check by check, everything worked! I then clicked 'block' in the app, 'stuck'. You could see him trying to turn the wrong way. Blocked it manually and pressed "unblock". The same thing and another turn in the wrong direction. Called Kwikset support and was held up for more than 30 minutes while I was still trying to take it…

Terrific! Firmware update solved all problems.

UPDATE: OCTOBER 20, 2021 I have 3 of these locks. I've revised my original review because Kwikset released a firmware update about 6 months ago and the short battery life issue has since gone away. Initially I was very critical of Kwikset because I changed 12 batteries every month, but the situation has changed. At first, they often used up batteries. One of the features of the firmware update was the increase in battery life. And it worked. Today I replaced the batteries which lasted 106 days.

Good Hardware, Terrible Software

It's Coming Back; I still don't know what to replace. Disappointed as I have all the Kwiksets at home 1) The app is rubbish. Difficult account creation due to poor UX and faulty password logic. The "History" lock screen with errors is sorted by date/time, but some lock/unlock events are not sorted by position and appear at the bottom of the list. Eventually, no more new events were added to the story. There is no mechanism in the app to view or update the WiFi blocking settings - you have to…

Finally! WiFi blocking for humans!

This lock is amazing. The only thing I want to do is set a lockdown schedule for the night. Maybe I can do it through Alexa. At the moment it doesn't look like it will work with Google Home, although the ads suggest it will. Other than that amazing. Kw1 is the common key. Another possibility would be Schlage, but then I would have to recode the whole house. Changing keys was easy and I was able to use my existing key. It literally took two seconds after reading the directions. Bluetooth was a…

Hoping for the best, getting the worst

I have been using Kwikset Powerbolt locks for a long time and my book gives them a 5 rating. When I read about it, I was very happy to have it for our traded-in rental in Florida (we live in Tennessee). It took about a year after it was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show to hit the market. I received it about 4 months ago. When I first tried to install it, it didn't find my Wi-Fi. We had several other electronic devices that had no problem detecting our wi-fi signal, but the lock only…

The blocking is pretty good. Bad software with serious design flaws

I got one at home to test and it seemed pretty good. Switched 7 other locks to them and they worked well enough. The only initial complaint was that the hardware stuck a little more than most locks, causing the keyboard motor to bind or run longer, draining the batteries. The big problem is that Kwikset doesn't know that sometimes people buy new phones. Three weeks after installation I received a new camera. They have a major design flaw, because just to get a new phone you have to go to each…
