Review on 🚴 Sportneer Electromagnetic Smart Bike Trainer with Built-in Speed and Power Sensors, Automatic Resistance Adjustment, Indoor Cycling Stand Compatible with Zwift by Mirzet Gosselin

Great exercise bike with lots of bells and whistles

This exercise bike has many features that set it apart from a regular weight machine. I have been using the trainer for many years. Just a simple weighted flywheel where you adjust tire pressure to simulate drag (like hills). The only great feature of this trainer is the ability to connect to apps that will adjust that resistance for you based on the virtual terrain. Do you want to climb the hills today? Very easy. I wouldn't rate terrain resistance as 100% accurate. It's harder to climb a real hill. But the fact that you don't have to get off the bike and manually adjust anything is amazing. The virtual terrain in apps like Zwift or OneLap forces you to focus on your driving session as if you're honestly immersed in a video game. The power meter readings are about as accurate as most consumer products. That is, not entirely correct and mostly overpriced by 5-20% to make it easier for the user. Thing is, the metrics I get from this machine are the same as anything else I have that measures those stats. I couldn't find any cadence values anywhere in the settings or in the documentation, so I ended up using my cadence sensor and pairing everything with Zwift. It's great for indoor workouts. I feel like people care about the noise - it's quieter than my old "manual" trainer. There is a hum as you increase the speed, but it's naturally there. That's how coaches work. This one is quieter than any other I've used. I've seen several reviews mentioning that the price of $299 (at the time of this review) is overpriced. I'm not sure if that's true. This device can deliver great results for aspiring athletes and has enough additional features that I think make the price worth it. It feels sturdy and well built. I will use this on rainy days and when the cold starts.
