Scale: 1 Useless ----- 2 Flawed ----- 3 As advertised ----- 4 Well-executed ----- 5 Beyond expectationsI really wanted to like this dash cam and there's so many positives to like about it. The camera quality is just as advertised; crisp and capable of viewing detail easily. The display is fantastic and I really enjoyed how easy it was to interact with and review videos. Even though I would prefer an app to connect to the mirror, the display really made up for it. The software was (mostly) intuitive and the advertisement didn't provide any misleading or outright false information about the product.So why the 3 star review? There were 2 major flaws that made this product unusable for me. First, the mounting system is insufficient. Bumps on the road would cause the display to shift downward, requiring adjustment at every stop. I used the tightest bands I could get around my mirror and it would not stay in place. It also made the camera incredibly easy to steal if someone broke into the car. Second, and admittedly less common, the mirror did not have a dimming option. Unfortunately that is required when living in a state with so many raised trucks with bright headlights.Overall, a very well-designed dash camera with 1 fatal flaw that made me return the product. If Vantrue were to provide a more secure mounting system (even allowing me to replace my mirror entirely) and a dimming option I would absolutely purchase again.
