No instructions but anyone who orders this will be handy enough to find out. First, the distance from the deck to the bottom of the shelf is 22 inches. The sides don't extend past the sides of the tub, so the 21-inch size is consistent across the width of the tub. CON. The powder coating is poor, just pull the nylon tape around the edges, the powder coating has been removed. The edges are sharp, a little worried about the ties being cut off. Powdercoating sucks so sand and bedline will probably need sanding. I have a 2016 JKU Rubicon and installation requires the use of 1/4 spacers between the shelf and the sides. They allow all bends in the lateral direction. This weakens the structure as most of the screws holding the shelf to the sides are unsupported, reducing the weight the shelf can support. Not a big deal for a grocer, but I decided to leave my survival gear on the shelf. We are working on spacers that run the full width and depth of the shelf
