Excellent replacement for Lennox X6770 filter

Read many reviews on this filter before buying. There is a lot of incorrect information in these reviews. I hope I can clear up some things. First, the filter size is exactly the same as the size marked on the filter frame. Nominal size 16 x 25 x 5 but actual size 15 3/4 x 24 3/4 x 4 3/8 as shown on frame. This is exactly the size of the Lennox X6770 it replaces (and other devices of the same size). Those who said it was too long/wide or otherwise didn't fit properly clearly used a different filter and bought the wrong one. Incidentally, some manufacturers use the nominal size 16x25x4 with similar real dimensions, so ignore the nominal size and look at the actual dimensions. The industry uses nominal dimensions as a guide similar to how 2x4 lumber boards are NOT actually 2"x4". it is not a function for this filter. The filters they are trying to replace do not have foam strips and Lennox filter cabinets (and similar units) use filters with foam strips. These cabinets have foam-sealed doors around the perimeter and fiberboard that holds the filter firmly in place once installed, preventing blow-by gases. Can't comment on performance at this time as I've just installed it in both of our ovens, but the build is solid and the airflow has been good so far. You must install them in the correct direction, indicated by the flow mark on the edge of the frame, but this applies to all furnace filters. This filter has more pleats than the Lennox X6770 (MERV 11) filter. This filter is rated MERV 12, so this may be part, if not all, of the culprit. Otherwise the pleats are identical in design. At $20 per filter versus $28 per filter (at best) for the Lennox brand, they represent good value for money.

  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
