Honeywell FC100A1029 Replacement Filter by Nordic Pure: Improve Air Quality with Efficiency Review

This is as close as you can get to Honeywell filters. I have tried many filters and found nothing closer. It's also the only brand that ships without damage. It's well packaged from the factory and you won't spend much time sending in filters for replacement. The filter is very hard and durable. Doesn't flex much and should hold the filter media well.

Do not buy this to replace a Honeywell or Trion air bear. Made cheap. No foam strips on top or bottom for a better seal. This is a 1/4" narrower from a 5" filter. The length is 1/4 inch too long so I had to tape off the filter door to get through. I made it usable by cutting the foam strips off the old filter and taped both sides to the new filter and as mentioned above I sealed the door with duct tape. This isn't the best option for Trion or Honeywell. Mfgr, don't skimp on foam strips!

Not sure if it was just my order or other filters as well, but. So I replaced it with a second one about a week ago because I couldn't stand the smell. After doing a little research I decided to go with the MERV 12 instead of the ridiculous MERV 16 my system came with and save about $100 on the filter. Many other filters listed as 16 x 25 x 5 are actually 16 x 25 x 4.25, but this one, although I haven't measured the thickness, is the same size as the Lennox filter it replaces. I've been using Nordic Pure MERV 12 filters since 2013. I've tried higher and lower MERV filters. Seems like a good place to gather the dust we need. We do not have people with severe allergies etc who require high MERV. An exchange every 3 months seems ideal to us. We run the HVAC fan frequently throughout the year to circulate the air. If you run the fan less, you can extend the replacement time. I will continue to order these as they are effective and cheaper to buy from Home Depot etc…

I read other reviews where there were concerns about the size. What I didn't understand is that I've been using these filters for 4 years. I have a Honeywell heater and it fits perfectly! Just measure the filter you have now and look at the dimensions listed on the old filter. If the numbers are the same, you shouldn't have any problems. Read many reviews on this filter before buying. There is a lot of incorrect information in these reviews. I hope I can clear up some things. First, the filter size is exactly the same as the size marked on the filter frame. Nominal size 16 x 25 x 5 but actual size 15 3/4 x 24 3/4 x 4 3/8 as shown on frame.
