So the more you pay for a bike, the less chance there is of a footboard. The arguments against it seem to be the weight and wear and tear of the frame. I prefer not to put the bike on the ground. I just got a nice new touring bike and needed a side stand. It didn't include a center mount (I hate center pins anyway) so there wasn't a 2-leg model. The chainstay and seatstays were too far apart for the two-point contact rear suspension to work due to the disc brake interfering. I was on the verge of giving up and accepting life without a boner when I saw this model. All the negative reviews made me doubt until my bike fell for the third time. I thought why not? This BV model comes with a plastic mounting block inside but is well constructed for a comfortable grip. I placed the footpeg far enough forward that it was behind the chainstay taper and on top of the oval portion of the bike. This footpeg was tightened once, held tight and didn't move or rotate (not sure if this applies to other styles of bikes with round chainstays, but it works for me). I've had rear pegs for years and prefer them. This one is no exception. I love it! The adjustable leg is a huge improvement over the last pair I had (not the red button and wire but the actual mechanism that holds it in place and is easily adjustable). Holds strong and runs clean with a good click to get out of the way. I probably won't use it while my bike is full of saddlebags as it would be too much weight for the frame, but for everyday use this footrest is great.
