Look at the instructions, the installation is easy but you have to look at the tools you need: a torx bit (quite big) and a big allen key to lock the top. This thing really isn't needed on the Ranger because the tailgate is pretty light, but it makes it a little nicer, you just open it and slowly let it go down. It's one of the things I liked about the GMC that I almost bought. --- it just makes it a little bit better. You loosen two screws on the tailgate hinge (one at a time) so I put it in a small pocket behind the seat in the truck if I ever decide to remove it or it breaks. --- This is a good cheap upgrade for a great little truck.
