It has to be said that this is not a pretty instrument. I used it to work with a TR6 head and removed/reinstalled 12 valves with it. It's doing its job and didn't self-destruct in the process, so that's a good thing. Perhaps the best feature of this tool is the blown plastic case, which keeps everything neatly stored in my tool closet. A few tips on how to use it. (a) Lubricate the threads and bearing points of the threaded rods that turn against the collets. (b) There is a crossbar through a hole in one end of the threaded rod which provides leverage so you can screw in the rod and squeeze the valve. I removed and reinstalled 12 valves so I used this compression tool 24 times. I must have dropped the bar over 48 times. I recommend that you pin one end of the crossbar so that it can only slide out of the hole in one direction.
