Great tool for your money.

A great tool for your money! Of course, this isn't the best tool, but it does the job for a dime. I'll tell you a little secret. Take the "cage" portion of this tool (don't attach it to the worm gear yet), place it over the valve spring retainer and hit it hard with a rubber mallet. Now you can slightly squeeze the spring and pull out the holders. I was able to use this to compress the dual compass cam springs (rated at 400 in/lbs) and not deform the instrument. The heads were Olds 455 heads so

Works well with BBC valves and bikes

I bought this despite seeing reports of bent levers. At the store, we used a large detachable clip with a handle that costs about $50. I don't need it at home so I didn't want to spend that much. I've used this jig on big block Chevy valves with about 585# springs and had no problems. It's a bit slower than the more expensive model, but once set up, it's pretty quick. I've also used it on an old BMW motorcycle with no problems. Great buy, IMHO. Only criticism is that the crossbar handle keepsโ€ฆ

Successful 12 valve newcomer Here

It has to be said that this is not a pretty instrument. I used it to work with a TR6 head and removed/reinstalled 12 valves with it. It's doing its job and didn't self-destruct in the process, so that's a good thing. Perhaps the best feature of this tool is the blown plastic case, which keeps everything neatly stored in my tool closet. A few tips on how to use it. (a) Lubricate the threads and bearing points of the threaded rods that turn against the collets. (b) There is a crossbar through aโ€ฆ

Changing the Honda 90cc valve was trivially easy

Worked great - removing/replacing the valve on my Honda Trail 90 couldn't be easier. Simply select the appropriate valve side and spring side dies and twist the knob a few knobs to compress them together. Remove retainer, release tension, remove spring and valve. made. Total time was 1 minute, spikes start to finish. I've read 1 star reviews/complaints about bar warping and flexing but haven't seen any reference to it. I noticed that the C-tube isn't round, the tube is "flattened" at the topโ€ฆ

For less than $20, which could be worse, right

My 1999 VW Passat V6 had a bent intake valve and there are many ways on youtube to remove it, I went with the easiest way - get a tool. By the way, there are many tools for removing valves, I chose this tool for its value. What could be worse for under $20, right? All I can tell you is that this tool does a great job of relieving me of the tremendous hassle involved in obtaining and installing holders. Note: The tool comes without instructions, it is very easy to use, just place one end withโ€ฆ
