Review on Stant OE Equivalent Fuel Cap: Unmatched Quality and Performance by John Bailey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is a great price for a gas cap

This is a great price for a gas cap, it is of similar quality to the OEM cap although it differs in the style of the gas cap for my 2005 Honda. Citizen LX. For the first time in over 10 years/190,000 miles my Civic had an emissions/engine light on which bothered me. After checking my service manual I saw that it says this can often be caused by a loose fuel cap, but also read your manual as even after fixing it it can take 3 days for the light to go out assuming , it was a real problem. When I first checked my gas cap it was a bit loose and when I unscrewed it there was no pressure relief so I tightened it again (it's a three click design, I don't like it as much as the one- click design). Stant hat) I rode for a day or two but the light hasn't gone away so I decided to order this cap just in case. When the hat arrived, it was day 4, I replaced the hat with a stunt and the light was still on as my wife drove to work. But when she drove home, the lights were out! I didn't notice any noticeable cracks on my old cap, but the o-ring looked a bit worn so I'm glad I replaced it so cheaply. One-click design (don't try to pull it out!) and of course gets the job done the way it's supposed to. Keep in mind that this is not a guarantee of the engine/emissions gauge, it is just a general alarm and could mean something much more serious. So I don't really agree with the 1 star reviews that claim it didn't fix the signal lamp issue. The gas cap works fine (as long as it's in the right place) so it's wrong to decline as it doesn't fix a problem it wasn't designed to fix.

Pros
  • Caps
Cons
  • Not as thick as the other options
